Uma Music Concert- Music Launch Of Srijit Mukherjee’s Upcoming Film
Kolkata: In what has been an unprecedented event, the makers of the upcoming Bengali film Uma decided to organize Uma Music Concert to launch the film’s music on Wednesday evening in Kala Mandir.
The City Of Joy witnessed a first of it’s kind experience when the makers of Uma organized a free music concert to launch the album of the film. Never before has it been done in Bengali film industry and, as expected, the event was graced by the stars of the film including Jishu Sengupta, Sara Sengupta (who plays the pivotal character of Uma in the film), Rudranil Ghosh, Anirban Bhattacharya, director Srijit Mukherjee and music director Anupam Roy among the others. The evening was hosted by RJ Shomak.
The evening started with the soulful voice of Ujjaini and Somlata who together performed the song Esho Bondhu of Uma. The stage was then set on fire by the Rockstar of Bengali music industry, Abhijeet Barman a.k.a. Pota. He was welcomed by a huge cheer from the audience as he performed some his more celebrated songs including Kolonkini Radha.
He was then joined by another musical stalwart, Sidhu and together they performed their song from the upcoming film. It was then Rupankar who took to the stage and performed the title track of the film Jaago Uma.
In the meantime and in between performances the audience was greeted and mesmerized by the actors of the film. Anirban Bhattacharya and Rudranil Ghosh were the first of the actors to come up into the stage and share their experiences of working in this film. While Anirban expressed that this film is roller-coaster ride of all the emotions that a human could feel and it would definitely bring lots of tears in everyone’s eyes, Rudranil also echoed his words, though, he was more on the funny side while describing his experience.
But the most pleasant thing of the evening was the father-daughter duo Jishu and Sara Sengupta taking the stage together and sharing their experiences. Jishu became extremely emotional while talking about the film and why not as Uma is set to be his daughter’s debut film. As everyone, from the director to the co-actors, applauded the young actress, Sara expressed her excitement of hearing the words Lights, Camera and Action for the first time.
As the evening came close to it’s end the loudest of the cheers was reserved for the show stopper. So, when Anupam Roy’s name was announced Kala Mandir burst into a mad house. His performance was a duet with Open Tee Bioscope famed Surangana who sang one of the songs from Uma. After this performance it was all Anupam Roy show. He performed with his band, The Anupam Roy Band, to give the audience what they had come for.
